Can an AI recognize my opinion from tweets?

#artificialintelligence

To make a long story short: In principle; yes. And if my colleagues at the University of Edinburgh are to be believed, it even works in cases where an opinion is not explicitly expressed. In fact, the terms "sentiment analysis" or "opinion mining" are nothing new to people who deal with language technology. However, this is not infrequently a marketing ploy: because what sounds like opinion analysis is in fact usually nothing more than a polarity analysis of the feelings that are transported via a text. In other words, it analyzes whether a social media post has positive or negative vibes.

Artificial intelligence is also on the advance in IT security. According to a survey of 300 managers, 96 percent reported preparations in their companies for AI-supported IT attacks. In doing so, they partly rely on the help of "defensive AI". The survey was carried out with the assistance of the AI cybersecurity provider Darktrace. A survey of around 200 IT managers in medium-sized companies came to a more differentiated result.

AI creativity will bloom in 2020, all thanks to true web machine learning

#artificialintelligence

Machine learning has been trotted out as a trend to watch for many years now. But there's good reason to talk about it in the context of 2020. And that's thanks to developments like TensorFlow.js: an end-to-end open source machine learning library that is capable of, among other features, running pre-trained AI directly in a web browser. It means that AI is becoming a more fully integrated part of the web; a seemingly small and geeky detail that could have far reaching consequences. Sure, we've already got examples a plenty of web tools that use AI: speech recognition, sentiment analysis, image recognition, and natural language processing are no longer earth-shatteringly new.
